Description:
This dazzling shawl is handwoven with hand dyed mercerized cotton for weft and mercerized cotton for warp. The colours are greens, reds, yellows, purple, and ruby. It has two tablet bands woven in a technique called double-faced tablet weaving. The shawl has two distinct sides, a front and a back, and it is visible in the bands. On the front, the bands have beads on them and the beads were added as the weaving was carried out. The beads add an extra glamor to the shawl. Also, on the front of the shawl the bands have subtle patterns in purple on a ruby background and on the back the bands are purple with subtle ruby patterns. It is finished with a beautiful hand twisted fringe where beads were added.
Care:
Handwash in cold water with a mild soap. Lay flat to dry. Press while still damp to bring out the luster of the silk.
