Shawls

My shawls are handwoven with hand dyed silk, Tencel, and mercerized cotton. The bands in the shawls are woven simultaneously with the fabric for the shawl. The bands are woven in a hand manipulated technique called tablet (card) weaving. This technique is very time consuming so it can take up to three months to weave a shawl depending on how many bands in the shawl. The fringes are hand twisted and beads were added to the fringes for decoration and to give some weight so the shawl drapes beautifully.
